This is my very first log carving. I'm not looking for kudos (although welcome)! I am an Army Veteran, served for 18 years so I have thick skin! Do not BS me, give me your opinion; criticisms; and advice! I am open minded to new ideas and techniques as I want to learn wood carving of as many forms that I can handle! Posted is several pics to show my initial work, what tools i have at the moment and my finished work The tools I have to work with right now: Pencil, Survival knife, Utility knife, and a leather glove that i modified cause I'm tired of cutting my finger and hands lol! This photo is before the stain is added. The wood is a green and yellow color with a dark brown center. This is the photo with a light golden oak Stain added but still needs a clear coat/sealer. Thank you for your advice, critiques, and opinions!

Wood carving is a form of woodworking by means of a cutting tool (knife) in one hand or a chisel by two hands or with one hand on a chisel and one hand on a mallet, resulting in a wooden figure or figurine, or in the sculptural ornamentation of a wooden object.
